Creating Country Music: Fabricating Authenticity -- Richard A. Peterson
Self Promotion:
It's free, thanks to all the people who brought something good to the party.
These recordings come from a 78s collection Jim Bollman used to own. Before Jim sold them, Jackie Spector
(and I) recorded all the disks onto cassette and made a logbook. 15 years later I converted the stuff
into its present form. The original 78s were sold at auction years ago.
There are plenty of re-releases of 78s available. The sound quality is much better than what I have
here, the liner notes are great and you should buy as many as possible.
These recordings are probably protected by copyright laws. Please let me know if YOU hold a valid copyright to one of these recordings and do not want it on this site - I'll happily remove it.
I think the people on these records would have wanted everyone to hear their music.

I'd like to do a lot more with this site (dates, more tunes, categories, search, playlists). You can help by buyng something from one of the product links (because I get a tiny kickback when you do). The 'Reissue' links open a window to CDNow.com where you can buy a CD reissue of the track or the artist. The links at the top right of the page open a different window to Amazon.com. (These product windows open just once, so if they are hidden by this window you may think the product links are not working. Just move the windows around so you can see them all.) You could also just make a donation via PayPal (you'll get bonus tracks):
